Change to family services
We're reviewing our family services to find a time and format that works better for people. In the short term there will not be any family / messy church services. Keep an eye on the website to see when and how we restart.
Change to Wedding and Christening Bookings
Until further notice bookings for weddings and christenings will only be taken on the first and third Mondays of the month. The time is unchanged - 6.15 to 7pm.
Our former vicar, Rev Rob Taylor, moved in October to take up a new post in the Diocese of Ely. Until a new priest is in post services will continue largely as normal, mostly covered by clergy from our neighbouring parishes, and retired clergy.
WWI Memorial Window Radio Report
St John's has an unusual stained glass window in memory of Royal Flying Corps officer Lieutenant E.C. Landsdale, shot down by the famous Red Baron. As part of the BBC's World War One at Home project, Radio Humberside tells the story behind it here.
Donate to church while you shop - at no cost to you!
You can now make donations to St John's while you shop at major online retailers including Amazon, M&S, ASDA and many more. You pay the same price as usual and the church receives a percentage. For details see here. In just a few months the church has received over £100 this way!
Welcome to St John the Evangelist, Goole's Parish Church
St John's, from Estcourt Terrace
Whichever way you head towards Goole, the spire of St John's Church is one of the landmarks visible for miles around, along with the dockside cranes and the 'salt and pepper pots' water towers. The spire points upwards from the heart of the town, and that's a good way of thinking about the church that meets there too, firmly rooted in the community and looking upwards – we're here to love God and love Goole.
